I am working on a statistics project and trying to do a histogram through the data analysis tool. I have tried it a million times and I cannot get the histogram to show up. The chart for it does show up. I have checked my version of Excel and I do not have the RT version that does not support this function.

Creating a histogram in Excel is not rocket science, but you need to aware of the situations where it can be helpful and useful. A histogram chart in excel is like a bar chart except that it groups numbers into ranges unlike individual values in a bar chart. A Histogram in Excel is made up of 5 parts such as Title, Horizontal, Bars (height and width), Vertical, and Legend. The title describes the information about the histogram. A Histogram, also known as a frequency distribution, is a chart that illustrates the distribution of values that fall into groups. Since my 5 year old is big into his football (soccer) we’ll take goals scored as an example…even though in 5 year old's football matches you’re not supposed to count the goals scored! Below is the end result. To create a frequency distribution and a histogram, follow these steps: Click the Data tab’s Data Analysis command button to tell Excel that you want to create a frequency distribution and a histogram. When Excel displays the Data Analysis dialog box, select Histogram from the Analysis Tools list Select Histogram and click OK. 4. Select the range A2:A19. 5. Click in the Bin Range box and select the range C4:C8. 6. Click the Output Range option button, click in the Output Range box and select cell F3. 7. Check Chart Output. 8. Click OK. 9. Click the legend on the right side and press Delete. Re: Added series not showing up on graph Start by showing the labels for the primary horizontal axis and you will see then dates are for 1900's and not 2012. Use the Select Data dialog and notice the values in the right hand list for the series category labels.

Where the Histogram Chart is found in Excel? The histogram chart option found under Analysis ToolPak. The Analysis ToolPak is a Microsoft Excel data analysis add-in. This add-in is not loaded automatically on excel. Before using this, we need to load it first. Steps to load the Analysis ToolPak add-in: Click on File tab. Choose Options button. If you don’t check this, you’ll only get a frequency chart (a list), not the actual histogram. Step 10: Click “OK” and Excel will create the histogram. Tip: Histograms traditionally do not have gaps between the bars. To correct this, right click just outside the chart area (but within the chart window). Select “Format Chart Area” and click the down arrow next to “Chart Options.” Select “Series Frequency.” In Excel Online, you can view a histogram (a column chart that shows frequency data), but you can’t create it because it requires the Analysis ToolPak, an Excel add-in that isn’t supported in Excel for the web. If you have the Excel desktop application, you can use the Edit in Excel button to open Excel on your desktop and create the histogram. This creates a static histogram chart. Since Excel creates and pastes the frequency distribution as values, the chart would not update when you change the underlying data. To refresh it, you’ll have to create the histogram again. The default chart is not always in the best format. You can change the formatting like any other regular chart. Another way to create a histogram in Excel is using the FREQUENCY or COUNTIFS function. The biggest advantage of this approach is that you won't have to re-do your histogram with each change in the input data. Like a normal Excel chart, your histogram will update automatically as soon as you edit, add new or delete existing input values. Selecting the Cumulative Percentage check box tells Excel to plot a line showing cumulative percentages in your histogram. Optionally, select the Chart Output check box to have Excel include a histogram chart with the frequency distribution. If you don’t select this check box, you don’t get the histogram — only the frequency distribution. Click OK. Excel creates the frequency distribution and, optionally, the histogram. Histograms don't appear (and represent statistics) properly in Excel 2016. I use Office Home and Student 2016 (for Windows). Close to 1 month ago, I was given the following task to do on Excel 2016 (by a university unit co-ordinator.) But I found, I couldn't create a separate bar (in the histogram) to represent each three columns of data

OK, you will will probably be laughing about this at the water cooler over the next couple of days, but my data is not showing up on my chart! I'm sure it's something really stupid I overlooked - Charts are my weak area, but I've done several in the past just fine. I checked my source data three times now - - Each series name (from the row labels), and corresponding data for the series value

Creating a column chart of data shouldn't create as many bins as integer intervals that you have. As User said in his answer, your data is segmented into 18 bins and if you want to change that you must change x-axis to be a bin interval. See this youtube video for good explanation: Histograms are a great way to verify the equality of data points distribution. From a glance, you’ll immediately see whether you had equal distribution or not. 3. Data Spread. Basically, the bars in a histogram represents the data points belonging to that range. One look and you’ll know how the data is spread among the ranges.
